Context:
Samuel Beckett was born in Dublin in 1906. He befriended the famous Irish novelist James Joyce, and his first published work was an essay on Joyce. In 1951 and 1953, Beckett wrote his most famous novels, the trilogy Molloy, Malone Dies, and The Unnameable.
Waiting for Godot, Beckett's first play, was written originally in French in 1948 (Beckett subsequently translated the play into English himself). It premiered at a tiny theater in Paris in 1953. This play began Beckett's association with theTheatre of the Absurd, which influenced later playwrights like Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard.
The most famous of Beckett's subsequent plays include Endgame (1958) andKrapp's Last Tape (1959). He also wrote several even more experimental plays, like Breath (1969), a thirty-second play. Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1969 and died in 1989 in Paris.
Two men, Vladimir and Estragon, meet near a tree. They converse on various topics and reveal that they are waiting there for a man named Godot. While they wait, two other men enter. Pozzo is on his way to the market to sell his slave, Lucky. He pauses for a while to converse with Vladimir and Estragon. Lucky entertains them by dancing and thinking, and Pozzo and Lucky leave.
After Pozzo and Lucky leave, a boy enters and tells Vladimir that he is a messenger from Godot. He tells Vladimir that Godot will not be coming tonight, but that he will surely come tomorrow. Vladimir asks him some questions about Godot and the boy departs. After his departure, Vladimir and Estragon decide to leave, but they do not move as the curtain falls.
The next night, Vladimir and Estragon again meet near the tree to wait for Godot. Lucky and Pozzo enter again, but this time Pozzo is blind and Lucky is dumb. Pozzo does not remember meeting the two men the night before. They leave and Vladimir and Estragon continue to wait.
Shortly after, the boy enters and once again tells Vladimir that Godot will not be coming. He insists that he did not speak to Vladimir yesterday. After he leaves, Estragon and Vladimir decide to leave, but again they do not move as the curtain falls, ending the play.
etc.

Waiting for Godot is an absurd theater for Samuel Beckett. It was written after the two world wars so this could be a reason why it’s a kind of sense less.
The theater is about the two guys, called Estragon and Vladimir. Who sit on a stone along a road and wait for a man named Godot. During this theater they just sit there and wait. Sometimes they meet other people like Pozzo and Lucky but they never really interact with them. After they wait for hours, a boy arrives and tells them that Godot won’t come to day. Then the first act ends.
In the second act the completely same happens. The just wait, till they recognize that Godot won’t come. In the end they’re still sitting on the stone.
So in this theater is no “happy ending” but why should there be one? When you think about the time it was written, then it’s clear that there is just a gloomy and weird end. Because when you just saw death then you surely get emotionless and depressed. So properly you aren’t able anymore to write “happy ends”.
What did Beckett want to tell us with this writing? Maybe he wanted to tell us that we shouldn’t wait for something that won’t come. That we should do something out of our lives. That is also the meaning of this play. Beckett likely told us that we should do anything else than war, hate and murdering till we die.
I always try to do something out of a day. Even when school wasn’t easy or just nerving, I’ll try to deal with the bad things. To have a good day you just have to let the good thoughts grow. Even when you have a lot to work, you have to find time for you, your friends, just for your whole social life. Because just to sit in a corner and learn won’t make you happy at all. Everyone has to find their own work – life balance.

ReplyDeleteAbout Waiting for Godot
Waiting for Godot is a theatre and it was written by Samuel Beckett. He was born in 1906 in Dublin, so he often was confronted with the war in his life. Waiting for Godot is a story about two men, who waiting for a person, but they don't know how the person is. The guys names are Estragon and Vladimir and they meet each other at a street where they are waiting for the man. At the place where they are, there is only a tree and a stone. Then the two me talk to each other and only wait for Godot but he don’t arrive. Then two other guys, named Pozzo and Lucky comer and they all talk to each other. After this the two men go away and then they wait for hours but Godot don’t arrive. Later a little boy comes and say to Vladimir and Estragon that Godot won’t arrive. At the next night the two men meet at the same place with the same intention. After this the kittle boy arrives again and tell the same. At the end Estragon and Vladimir a still waiting for Godot and but he don’t come.
One point that the theatre is so absurd is that not all in the life is good sometimes there are no happy ending. And the second point is that in this time the war ends and many people died. So many wives are waiting for there husbands but they don’t come back. It was a hard time for many people in this time.
They should go on walking because they could find a disco or a pub and there Estragon and Vladimir can meet other people or drink something maybe. But if they only wait for something which won’t come nothing will happen. No matter in which situation you are, do something and don’t wait for it that is the worst what you can do. Go out and meet friends to have fun.

ReplyDeleteWaiting for Godot is a theatre with two men who only wait for a figure. But they don`t know where or what it is the name of the figure is Godot. The premiere of the theatre were in Paris at 5™Jannuary 1953 in a little theatre in Paris. The play was written by Samuel Becket.
Two Men`s sitting next to a street it`s evening. They talk about senseless things. The men called Estragon and Vladimir. Sometime Pozzo and his slave Lucky came and they talk a bit about Godot and what he can be. Lucky think Godot is God and he will bring peace. Pozzo think that Estragon and Vladimir are stupid that they wait for a figure what no exist. And they go away. They wait and wait and wait for the Godot but at the end of the first act a boy come and says that Godot will not come. And they stand up and go away and make all same. When you will reach something you must give your live in your hands and fight for it. In the second act all is same but Lucky is dumb. And Pozzo Silly. The Boy said again that Godot will not come and they stand up and walk away.
The Theatre have no happy ending because it was written in the second world war and there was nothing happy the meaning of the play is that you must work for you luck and don`t wait for a thing that should make you re live better . Take for example the work live balance you must work but you must also have friends and fun. The live is hard but when you will something you can reach it. The theatre called absurd because it have no sense the men do only talk 2 acts the same and Godot doesn’t Come it was only absurd and the people must pay money for that boring senseless theatre. But later it became a meaning and the people saw the play from an other sight.

DeleteWaiting for Godot is a theatre of the absurd. It was written by Samuel Beckett. Beckett was born in 1908 in Dublin. So he experienced differend wars. That may be the reason why he wrote this reflective play. He was also befriended with the famous Irish novelist James Joyce, and his first published work was an essay on Joyce. Waiting for Godot was his first play in his life.
Samual Beckett wrote "Waiting for Godot" after the two world wars. It is about two men who are sitting on the street waiting for a man called Godot. But in this play Godot never comes. But every day Vladimir and Estragon are sitting on the same place and they wait and wait.....
Samual Becket wants to say that the people during and after the war were waiting for better days, they were waiting for their fathers, husbands, uncles,... who were fighting in the war or were in war captivity. But Godot can also be god for people who are in difficult situations. So Vladimir and Estragon shouldn't wait for this things, they should be more active and stand up going along the street and make the best in this hopeless situation. If people sometimes find themselves in a dark hole they should never give up and hope is the most important thing to think about.
So this is the main statement in this play.
So what can "Waiting for Godot" means for my life?
In my opinion, life isn't always very esay. You have stress in school, in your work, stress with your parents, with your friends...
And it is in your hands to make the best in your life. Waiting can't be a solution for these problems. You must be active and not passive. This is the best way to handle all these problems and to enjoy your life. It's the only life you have!
Waiting for Godot
ReplyDeleteThis absurd Theatre is about of two men called Estragon and Vladimir, they are waiting for Godot but they do not know who Godot is. Maybe it can be really God or better times or anything other. So they wait and wait days and nights and they do not know every day what happened yesterday. But Godot never comes in this play.
So what can Estragon und Vladimir do? For example they can go to a village and find a wife. They can work and then buy a house. They could have a wonderful life. But what do their? They are waiting for Godot.
The author of this famous absurd play was called Samuel Beckett. He was born in the war time and he has written the play in this terrible time. Samuel Beckett did not know what could be better times and so he wrote this play to show people how absurd life can be, so this is my opinion. For me Samuel Beckett wants to tell us that we should not wait of something for a long time. Instead of waiting we should seize the day.
So how we can really seize the day? I think we should find a balance between work and free time. And I think the meaning of this play is that our lives belong to ourselves and nobody should tell us what we have to do. We can do what ever we want to do. And we should not wait until we die. Here is an example what I mean: You save your money a whole lifetime and you never spend it for holidays.

The two mans could wait for a better live, for God, their wife or their friends or kids. Samuel Beckett could wanted to tell us with his work that we should make anything out of our life. The work- life balance is important because when you just work you are going to be exhausted or when you just have free time you do not have money.

In the next act Godot always not be come. Vladimir and Estragon sitting on the stone in the near form ah tree and wait for Godot. Many people will think of what has this theatre for a meaningful but they waiting and waiting reads about all thinks. Pozzo is blind and Lucky is dumb. In this theatre there gives not a happy end. The novelist say that was very bad thing and a creepy thing it shouldn’t have a happy end. The man for whom Vladimir and Estragon wait unendingly. Godot never appears in the play. Samuel Beckett wanted that this theatre so absurd as possible. After Estragon and Vladimir leaves but again they not move as the curtain falls, ending the play. The theatre was absurd but it’s so funny why did so absurd is.
Waiting for Godot
ReplyDeleteFirst off all I should tell something about the famous play “Waiting for Godot“. This play is going about two men named Estragon and Vladimir, they are waiting next to a road for Godot. But Godot is not coming. The funny thing is no one knows what or who Godot is. It can be everything. So Estragon and Vladimir wait for something, what does not come and sometimes they talk about pointless things. But even if this play sounds as pointless, it has a meaningful background.
Waiting for Godot was written by Samuel Beckett. He was born in 13 April 1906 in Ireland. So he go through all two world wars and after these wars he wrote this pointless play. He died in 22 December 1989 in Paris.
This theatre sounds so absurd because, two men sit next to a road and wait for something what does not come. Sometimes they talk about absurd things. So this play has not happy ending, but why? There is a easy explanation. Samuel Beckett go through all two world wars and the world wars also have not a happy ending.
At the first moment you cannot find a meaning of this play it is absolutely pointless. But if you look closer, the play still has a meaning. The people in the war wait for better time, their husbands, the sons, for God or for something other. In “Waiting for Godot”, Estragon and Vladimir also wait for something. So Beckett want to tell us that we should not sit and wait for something and at the end it does not come, we should stand up and make something of our lives because we only life once.
But what can we done to make the best out of our life? For example: Search for a job that makes you happy, spend the free time with your friends or with the family, engage hobbies.
A lot of people think, they will have a great life when they learn every day for school. I think, it is important to learn for school but when you learn all the time sometime you will be crazy, because all people have fun and go to parties and you only learn. So learn for school but do not forget your family or your hobbies and enjoy your free time . CORNELIA GREGORY

Waiting for Godot is a theatre of the Absurd and was written by Samuel Beckett. He was born 1906 in Dublin and write his play in 1949.In Waiting for Godot are two main character, who named Estragon and Vladimir. They are meet on tree and talk about some strange topics. Then a man named Pozzo and his slave named Lucky, who was on the way to a slave market, pass Vladimir and Estragon. A few time after a boy enter them with a message. He tells the two men, that Godot will be come tomorrow. Then they talk about to leave. At the next day they are still waiting for Godot but he doesn’t arrive. Before the ending the Boy enter Vladimir and Estragon again and he tell them that Godot doesn’t come. They decide to leave, but they doesn’t move. Samuel Beckett saw in his life only war, so I think that is a big reason, why this play haven’t got a happy ending, because also wars always doesn’t have happy ends. He wanted to tell us that the humans are so stupid, because we always fight and begin wars. Beckett also wanted to tell us that we shouldn’t only waiting for things, which doesn’t come but we have to search for things, explore the world or query for new things whose happen in the world.

Waiting for Godot is a theater of the absurd that was written by Samuel Beckett who was born in Dublin 1906. Samuel Beckett wrote his play in 1948. In the play there are two main characters. Their names are Estragon and Vladimir. Vladimir is more responsible than Estragon. Both wait for a man who calls Godot. While they are waiting two other people enter. Their names are Pozzo and his slave Lucky. The first absurd thing of this play is that the characters change their personalities in the second part of the play. For example: In the first part Lucky is entertaining them by dancing and thinking, but in the second part he is dumb. At the end Estragon and Vladimir never see Godot. That’s why this play is so absurd, two men wait for a person you can´t see in the whole play. I think that Samuel Beckett want to tell us with this play that we should do something when you want to reach something. But in the play Vladimir and Estragon only wait and so they never meet Godot. Vladimir and Estragon could seize the day. For example, they could go among the street and meet other people. They could go in a bar and have fun, but what did they do? Of course they only wait! The second thing that could be is that Beckett want to tell us how it was in the war. Because when the war ended a lot of people didn´t come back because they got killed. In my opinion the most important thing what Beckett want to tell us with this play is that you should find your own work-life balance. I think it is good that this play has an open ending. So every person can choose an ending in his fantasy.

ReplyDeleteWaiting for Godot was written by Samuel Beckett. Samuel Beckett was born in 1908 in Dublin he died in 1989 in Paris .Beckett was a was an Irish avant-garde novelist. Beckett lived in paris during the first and the second world war that can be reason why the play is absurd because he saw his whole life war. There are two people the first is Vladimir he is sitting on a stone near a tree by the road he wait for Godot. Then came a old friend his name was Estragon. After a while there were coming two people their names were Pozzo and Lucky. Pozzo talks a lidle bit with Vladimir during they talk lucky dance. After a few minutes Pozzo and Lucky go away. After a few hours a boy comes he say that Godot didn’t come today but he come tomorrow. In the second act they are also sit and they are wait. After a few hours waiting and nothing happens the play ends. So the paly have no happy end.
Why is there no happy end? Maybe there is no happy end because the play was after the war and the people had lost everything. They had no jobs no money and no family .
What will Beckett tell us with the play? Maybe he want to tell us that the live is precious and short and we should make something about our live.
Interpretation of Waiting for Godot
ReplyDeleteIn the play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett there are two men, the weak and helpless Estragon and the more responsible and mature Vladimir. They are waiting the whole time for Godot, who might be a person, a god, an animal, a thing and so on. Then Pozzo and his slave Lucky are coming because they want to go to the market. After a brake they leave. At the end of the first act a boy appears and says: “Godot will come tomorrow.” The next night, when Vladimir and Estragon are waiting next the tree again, Lucky and Pozzo enter the second time. Now Lucky is dumb and Pozzo is blind. Pozzo has forgotten that he met them the night before. Both are leaving the men again. Then the boy comes and says: “Godot will not come.” He is sure, that he did not speak to them before. He disappears, but Vladimir and Estragon do not leave when the curtain falls.
The beginning shows that the men are only waiting and waiting in the whole play, they do not go to the town, to a party, to a park or so. It is so typical of the Theatre of Absurd because the characters of the play are all so stupid and also the story is absurd. The play was written when there were many wars, because of this situation there is no happy ending.
The meaning of the play is that you should seize the day. Beckett wanted to tell us with his works that many people wait long for something or somebody, but that is a waste of time.
To make the best of my life I should love the life, for example doing sports, going out to the nature and having fun with the family. With these things I can really seize the day.
I think that work-life balance means that you must find a balance between work and hobbies. So you should sometimes do work and sometimes do hobbies. If you do not work for school you will have bad marks. Also if you do not have hobbies you will have problems with your life.

Samuel Beckett was born in time between the two world wars, he don’t saw something other war .It was a very bad time because lots of people were died in this two wars and there was no happy ending. Perhaps is that the reason why the theater waiting for Godot is so absurd and there no happy end is.
The story is that two men (Vladimir and Estragon) are siting by a tree near a street and wait for something named Godot they don`t know what Godot is but they just wait. After a long time two other men enter (Pozzo and Lucky his slave). Lucky entertained the tree men a small time and then he went with his master to the market. After this time a boy come and said Vladimir that Godot never come today the next day it was nearly the same. With the boy, Pozzo and his slave lucky.
Then the play end.
What will say us Samuel Beckett? I think he want tell the world/people that must take your liv in your own hands and must make something with it. It`s not good wait at something or a better time, you must do what. Have a funny live perhaps with a family and a work if you do nothing you have nothing. And you must have a work - life –balance that means it is important to not always just work, but have free time too.
-End-

Instead of waiting they could go to the next city and go in a pub and have fun. Maybe one of them found a family or get a job. But they are just waiting for nothing. He want to tell us that in the war happens bad things. Many people died and everything was destroyed. Samuel Beckett lives during the First and Second World War and it was a hard time for him and also for the other people. There happens nothing at all in the theatre. In my opinion live is not easy. Maybe you have stress,… So you should make the best of your live! So you should found a family and have a good job. It is also important to have a good work-live balance.

ReplyDeleteIn the play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett there are two men, Estragon and the Vladimir. They are waiting the whole time for Godot, how is god or a thing. There are two other men, Lucky and Patzzo.
The actors are only waiting in the whole play, they do not go to the town, to a pup, or so. It is so typical of the Theatre of Absurd because the characters of the play are all so stupid and also the story is absurd. The play was written when there were many the First and Second World War, because of this situation there is no happy ending.
The meaning of the play is that you shouldn´t wait of something, you should take it in our own hands. Samuel Beckett means that, because the people waiting of love and harmony after the wars. To make the best of my life I should love the life, for example doing sports, going out to the nature and having fun with the family. With these things I can really seize the day.
I think that work-life balance means that you must find a balance between work and freetime. So you should sometimes do work and sometimes do sport or something with or family and friend. If you do not work for school you will have bad marks. Also if you do not have hobbies you will have problems with your life.
The play has a very nice meaning.

Waiting for Godot was written by Samuel Beckett in 1948. He was born in Dublin in 1906. Waiting for Godot was Beckett´s first play. That he had written in French in 1948.It was the first theatre of absurd. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1969 and died in 1989 in Paris. He also wrote several even more experiments plays, like Breath. The theatre was written after the second world war, so the theatre isn’t very happy.
The theatre is about two men called Estragon and Vladimir who are sitting on a stone. They are waiting for Godot but Godot don’t come. They don`t know who Godot is and when he is arriving. That´s the reason why they wait. After a short time they meet Lucky and Pozzo who talks with them and entertains them. When lucky and Pozzo left, a boy arrives and tells them that Godot don´t come today. The boy leaves and they waited on. The first act ends. The next night, Vladimir and Estragon wait again on the stone for Godot. Lucky and Pozzo enter again, but they changed. Pozzo is blind and Lucky is dumb. The boy enters too and tells them that Godot don ´t come. So Vladimir and Estragon decide to leave, but they do not move as the curtain falls.
In my opinion that play should tell us that life is too precious to always wait for someone. Enjoy your life. Take your life in your own hands and make something about it.

Samuel Becket was born in Dublin in 1906. Samuel lived while the first and Second World War, so he did not know what peace, happiness and joyfulness actually is. So he had written “Waiting for Godot”, that the people understand that war is not good. He made people aware that they should make better times and that they cannot wait for better times.
The play is about the two men who are waiting for Godot. The two men are Vladimir and Estragon. It was on the end of the Second World War and everything was destroyed. Nothing was happy and nothing was good. Estragon and Vladimir were waiting on a roadside and they did nothing, but only Estragon wanted to pull up his shoe from his foot. They just waited for Godot and nothing else. But the absurd of this play is no one knows where or who Godot is .Suddenly Pozzo and his slave Lucky were crossing the street. Pozzo talked a little bit with the two men about the war but no interesting things. Then Pozzo talked to his slave Lucky, he should entertain himself by dancing. The slave danced, but that was not very funny so he let it be. Then a young boy crossed the road and asked Vladimir and Estragon what they were waiting for. They said that they are waiting for Godot. The young boy explained them that Godot would not come today, so Estragon and Vladimir went home. On the next day they were again on the roadside. Pozzo and Lucky came but Pozzo were blind and Lucky was dump and no one of the two remembered that they had met Estragon and Vladimir the day before. The boy, who was on the road the day before, also did not remember that he was there the day before. He talked Vladimir and Estragon again that Godot doesn’t come.
I think Beckett wanted to tell the people that you should live your life so that you love your life but you also have to work.
Waiting for Godot
ReplyDeleteSamuel Beckett wrote this absurd play in 1948, during the Second World War. He was born in 1906 so he lived already in the First World War and this was no easy time for him and for so many others, especially the time between the world wars, because they had nothing. So maybe this is the reason why this is so absurd.
It’s about two men called Vladimir and Estragon, who are waiting for Godot on an old stone next to the street. Estragon sits on the stone and tries to pull of his shoes, when suddenly Vladimir appears behind a tree. Vladimir is happy that he sees Estragon again, but Estragon isn’t. Then Pozzo and his slave Lucky comes over to them and talks to them a bit. Then Pozzo says to Lucky that he should entertain them by dancing. After that Pozzo and Lucky leave. A guy walks to them and says that he is sent by Godot and that he will not come today but tomorrow for sure.
At the next day Vladimir and Estragon wait again for Godot. But then Pozzo and Lucky are crossing their way again, but Pozzo seems to be blind and doesn’t remember that he met them the day before. Lucky is dumb. They leave Vladimir and Estragon, who continue waiting. The guy, who was there yesterday, appears and tells them that Godot will not come. The guy also doesn’t remember that he spoke to them yesterday. Vladimir and Estragon decide to leave, but they don’t move as the curtain falls.
I think Beckett wanted to tell us that we should seize the day and not to wait for something or someone that never comes. And that we really should do something useful in our lives and not to be such a “Couch Potato” like some people are. We should enjoy the time, where nearly everything’s good, as long as we can. You also should have a work-life balance, which means that you should do for everything you must do something you will do. Because if you don’t do enough for school you will get bad marks and if you don’t take yourself enough freedom you will get ill. So it’s very important to have hobbies. Everyone has to find his own work-life balance.
Waiting for Godot
ReplyDeleteThis absurd Theatre is about of two men called Estragon and Vladimir, they are waiting for Godot but they do not know who Godot is. Maybe it can be really God or better times or anything else.
So they wait and wait days and nights and they do not know every day what happened yesterday. But Godot never comes in this play.
So what can Estragon und Vladimir do? For example they can go to a village and find a wife. They can work and then buy a house. They could have a wonderful life. But do they do? They are waiting for Godot.
The author of this famous absurd play was called Samuel Beckett. He was born in the war time and he has written the play at this terrible time. Samuel Beckett did not know what could be better times and so he wrote this play to show people how absurd life can be. For me Samuel Beckett wants to tell us that we should not wait of something for a long time. Instead of waiting we should seize the day.
So how can we really seize the day? I think we should find a balance between work and free time. And I think the meaning of this play is that our lives belong to ourselves and nobody should tell us what we have to do. We can do what ever we want to do. And we should not wait until we die. Here is an example what I mean: You save your money a whole lifetime and you never spend it for holidays.

ReplyDeleteWaiting for Godot was written by Samuel Beckett in 1948. Beckett was born in Dublin in 1906. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1969 and died in Paris in 1989.
Two men, Vladimir and Estragon, just sit there and wait for Godot. But they don’t know what or who Godot is. While they are waiting two men, Pozzo and Lucky the slave, enter. Lucky tryed to entertain Vladimir and Estragon and then Pozzo and Lucky leave. After they leave, a boy enters and tells Vladimir that Godot won’t come tonight. The boy departs and Vladimir and Estragon decide to leave but they don’t do that. The next night Vladimir and Estragon wait again for Godot near the tree. The completely same happens as the night before. They just wait and don’t move as the play ends.
This play is so typical for the Theatre of the Absurd because it’s weird and senseless. I think that the play isn’t very interesting because there’s no happy ending. Another reason for no happy ending is that the writer would show us something. Because life often has no happy endings. The play was written in the time of war. That’s also a reason for no happy ending because the people were depressed.
You should make the best of your life, because you only have one. Enjoy the time with your family and friends, but don’t forget to work. Many people think that they have to work the whole day. But they should also enjoy their free time to have a good work-life balance. Think about the things, you will reach in your life. But don’t wait! Go, start and do. Vladimir and Estragon are no good examples because they just wait for somebody, they don’t know who it is.
In my opinion Beckett wanted to tell us that we sometimes do stupid things like Vladimir and Estragon. That’s normal for humans.

ReplyDelete„Waiting for Godot“ is a play written by Samuel Beckett. He was born in Dublin in 1906. It was Beckett´s first play. The play was written originally in French in 1948. It premiered at a tiny theatre in Paris at 1953. Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize and he died in 1989 in Paris.
This play is about two men, their names are Vladimir and Estragon, who are waiting for Godot. Nobody knows what Godot is. While they sit at the bank and wait, Pozzo and Lucky enter. Lucky is Pozzo´s slave. He is going to sell Lucky. After they leave, a boy enter. The boy says to Vladimir and Estragon, that Godot won´t come this night, but he is sure that he will come tomorrow night. The two men leave for this night, but the come the next night again. At the next night the two men wait and wait again. Lucky and Pozzo enter. Pozzo does not remember that they meet them the night before too. After Lucky and Pozzo leave, the boy enter and he says again that Godot will not come. So Vladimir and Estragon decide to leave, but they do not more move as the curtain falls. The End.
I think that the play has no happy ending because the time after the Second World War was a very difficult time for the people. Their houses were destroyed and they hadn´t much food. And the people had to wait. They waited for their fathers, husbands and children, because they never come back home.
The meaning of Beckett´s play is that we shouldn´t wait for something we don´t know what it is. We should take our life into our own hands and have fun.
Life is not always good to you but we should never give up. We should enjoy the really important things in life and we should spend time with our family and friends.
You should enjoy every day. Do things that make you happy and laugh. Enjoy your freeness but don´t forget to work. You must have a good work-life balance.

This play is about two man who were waiting for Godot, but Godot doesn’t come. I think it’s absurd, because they wait a really long time and nothing happend it seems a little bit boring to me.
This play was written at about 1951 to 1953. At this time war was over. Some people wait for a miracle, for better times or for God. Maybe they could think that life doesn’t got have sence. People had lost their Home and their belongings. It wasn’t a good time. Some speak of a happy ending , but why should there be a happy ending life was shit, some lost family members and did not know if they would ever come back or if they are dead.
I think the author wanted to tell us with this theater that we shouldn‘t wait for something that might not come, but that we use life as long as possible. We should not wait until the storm has passed, we should learn how to dance in the rain.
My opinion ist that everybody should get the chance to make the best of his life, I think that everybody can change if he wanted to. Carpe Diem- seize the day.
Some people forgett to do something for their own, because they only work. It’s not good to do this, everyone should have a good work-live balance. Nobody should only work! You haven’t got time for other important thinks, for example family, pets, friends or to have fun. It’s important to have fun and do something what you love, for you and the people around you.

The History of Samuel Beckett:
Samuel Beckett was born in Dublin in 1906. His first published work was an essay on Joyce.
Waiting for Godot is an absurd theater, who was written by Samuel Beckett in 1984.
He wrote Waiting for Godot after the two World Wars and was originally written in French.
The theater is about the two guys, called Vladimir and Estragon. They sit on a stone along the road and wait for a man named Godot. While they wait, two other men enter. One of the men is called Pozzo. He is on the way to sell his slave Lucky.
Vladimir and Estragon wait and wait and wait, but Godot didn’t come.
After they would leave the place but then they were so stupid to wait for Godot again.
The opinion oft he play is, that humans are stupid. I think we shouldn’t wait for things, which will not come. During this time, we could go into town and meet other people for example.
The life is too short to waste the whole time to wait for things or people who will never come.
You should seize the day to meet your family or friends. I think this is a good work – life balance.
Quotation: Enjoy your life and don’t wait for things, which will never come true!!!!
Interpretation of Waiting for Godot
ReplyDeleteWaiting for Godot is a theatre of the absurd genre, written by Samuel Beckett in 1952. Beckett had lived in a time, where he often got faced with war(1906-1989). That may be a reason why he wrote such a weird play.
When I first saw the play I thought that it was going to be a pretty funny theatre with some absurd gags or something but after a few minutes of being disappointed, I noticed that it was the exact opposite. We just watched like five to eight minutes of it but that was already enough. There are just two men standing near a street at night time, waiting for someone, or something, called “Godot”. Oh yes, I nearly forgot to mention that there is a tree in the background.
It never really gets told who, or what, Godot is and why they are waiting for him. Also they never laugh or smile, or do amusing things, they just wait. Did I already mention that it is impossible to watch the entire play? Why? Because of the reason that the whole play is a complete nonsense and it´s boring as hell.
But there is the opportunity that it could have a deeper meaning than that. I think the whole scene is a reference to the situation of some people after war, because they lost their families, their place of residence, or something else and so they also lost their sense of life and some of them just wait for something that will bring back there hope. Some people still do so today.

Waiting for Godot is an English theatre, it was written by Samuel Backett. Samuel Backett was born 1908 in Dublin and he was a theatre writer. The play was written after the Second World War, so the theatre isn’t very happy. The characters in the play are Vladimir, he is a main character, Estragon, he is the second main character. Other characters in the play are Pozzo, Lucky, a boy and Godot who is never coming. Waiting for Godot is a story about Estragon and Vladimir. They are waiting for Godot. On the stage there is only a tree and a stone. In the background is a way. The men talk to each other. Sometime Pozzo and his slave Lucky are coming and talk to each other. Later a boy comes and says Estragon and Vladimir that Godot will come tomorrow. Pozzo and Lucky enter again but Pozzo is blind and Lucky is deaf. So Estragon and Vladimir are waiting any longer, but Godot is never coming.
I think that Estragon and Vladimir shouldn’t wait for something. I think they have to go and have fun. They have to see the world. They should do what they love to do. Waiting needs time and people haven’t much time. People are ageing and when they have a certainly age they couldn’t maybe do all what they want. I think this play is so tired, because it was written after the Second World War. The war wasn’t easy for the people so they haven’t had much hope. It hasn’t a happy end because after the war wasn’t a happy end. Not each life has a happy ending

This play was written by Samuel Beckett, who was born in Dublin in 1906. It’s a theatre of the Absurd. It doesn’t make sense at all. You shouldn’t have too many expectations to this play. Just enjoy.
The two main characters of the play are Vladimir and Estragon. They meet near a tree at night. The two men talk to each other while they are waiting for a man named Godot. But Godot don’t come. After a while two other men, Pozzo and his slave Lucky, enter and talk to them. Lucky entertains them by dancing. After Pozzo and Lucky leave, a boy appears. The boy tells Vladimir and Estragon that Godot won’t come, he will come tomorrow. Shortly after the boy leaves, Vladimir and Estragon also decided to leave. As the curtains fall they do not move.
The next night Vladimir and Estragon meet at the same place with the same intention. The same happens and Godot don’t come. At the end Estragon and Vladimir are still waiting and they do not move.
In my opinion the meaning of this play is that we shouldn’t wait for something we don’t know. Because the two men don’t know who Godot is or if he exists at all. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain!” – I really like this quote. No matter in which situation you are in life. Don’t wait. Do something. Be happy with the things you have in in your life - your family, friends,.. They are your support. Estragon and Vladimir are no good example.
They could start walking and maybe they find a city. There they could go into a pub or a disco. Probably one of them find a girlfriend or find a job. They could do something with their lives.
The play was written in time of war. Maybe that’s the reason for no happy ending. Another reason could be that the writer would show the people that not every story has a good ending. Life often has no good endings. But we shouldn’t be depressed and gloomy.
Make the best of your life. Think about the things, you will reach in your life. Make little steps. You can’t reach all your goals on one day. One after the other. Be strong and believe in yourself. Your family and friends could support you in difficult times.

The play is about two guys, called Vladimir and Estragon. They are always sitting on a stone near a road and they are waiting for Godot. The two guys Vladimir and Estragon speak about everything and they just sit there and wait. After some time two men, Pozzo and his slave Lucky, arrive. In the next act the completely same happens. Vladimir and Estragon are still sitting on the stone and wait for Godot. Then the play ends.
In this play there is no „Happy End“. In my opinion Vladimir and Estragon are waiting for better times. They wait for Godot because they hope that Godot will make their lives better. They wait and wait instead of doing something useful. They could look for a job or they could go to another place… but they will just sit and wait of a person who will not exist. In my opinion this is the wrong way to live. We should do something out of our lives! I think Beckett will tell us that we shouldn’t waste our precious time and seize the day. But why Vladimir and Estragon are still waiting? Samuel Beckett has survived two world wars. Maybe he will show us that after this terrible time the people are no longer able to do something. They are trapped in themselves. Beckett shows us that it is for nothing to wait for „help“. You have to get up and go your own way!

Waiting for Godot is a theater of the absurd that was written by Samuel Beckett who was born in Dublin 1906. Samuel Beckett wrote this play in 1948. That´s why this play is so absurd, two men wait for a person you can´t see in the whole play.
I think that Samuel Beckett want to us with this play that we should do when you want to reach something. But in the play Vladimir and Estragon only wait and so they never meet Godot. Vladimir and Estragon could seize the day. For example, they could go among the the street and meet other people. They could go in a bar and have fun, but what did they do? Of course they only wait! The second reason that could be is that Beckett want to tell us how it was in the war. Because when the war ended a lot of people didn´t come back because they got killed. In my opinion the most important thing what Beckett wanted to tell us with his play is that you should find your own work-life balance. I think it is good that this play has an open ending. So every person can choose an ending in his fantasy.

In the second part Pozzo and Lucky arrive. Lucky is the slave of Pozzo. After they meet Estragon and Vladimir they are still waiting. They are waiting the whole play.
In The first part Estragon is sitting on a small mount and then Vladimir arrives. So they meet each other again. And what they do then? They are waiting for someone who will never come. Vladimir asks Estragon where he spent the night. Estrogen says that he slept in a ditch over there. But he says this without any gesture. Many people payed for this Play and they were very disappointed when they saw how absurd and boring this play is. I mean there are 4 people and the whole play they are just waiting for someone. They can walk to a city they can meet some people, but no they are just waiting. It just makes no sense. I think Backett wants to tell us that it makes no sense to do nothing. We should go out, have fun, meet other people…
If I learn much I will have a nice great life make the Matura and get a good job. I think the best is to learn one half of the day-the rest is freetime. It never makes sense to to totally nothing. If you do nothing, nothing will happen.

ReplyDeleteAbout Waiting for Godot
Waiting for Godot is a play and it was written by Samuel Beckett. He was born in 1906 in Dublin, so he often was confronted with the war in his life. Waiting for Godot is a story about two men, who is waiting for a person, but they don't know the person is. The guys names are Estragon and Vladimir and they meet each other at a street where they are waiting for the man. At the place where they are, there is only a tree and a stone. Then the two men talk to each other and only wait for Godot but he don’t arrive. Then two other guys, named Pozzo and Lucky come and they all talk to each other. After this the two men go away and then they wait for hours but Godot don’t arrive. Later a little boy comes and says to Vladimir and Estragon that Godot won’t arrive. At the next night the two men meet at the same place with the same intention. After this the kittle boy arrives again and tell the same. At the end Estragon and Vladimir a still waiting for Godot and but he don’t come.
One point of the play is so absurd is that not all in life is good sometimes there are no happy endins. And the second point is that in this time the war ended and many people died. So many wives were waiting for there husbands but they don’t come back.
Go out and meet friends to have fun
Waiting for Godot!
ReplyDeleteWaiting for Godot is by Samuel Beckett written. He wrote it between the two world wars and that’s maybe a reason because it is so depressing. It’s the world absurdest theatre. James Beckett was born in Dublin in 1906. In this play there are two men named Vladimir and Estragon and they are waiting, they wait for Godot.
Vladimir and Estragon are both sitting on a stone and are waiting…Sometimes they speak some words with each other but not many. They meet other characters called Lucy and Pozzo. Then comes a man who told the two guys that Godot will not come today, but he said that Godot will surely come tomorrow. The same happen into the second act. Also this play has no happy ending because they never meet Godot and I suspect that this story has no happy ending because Samuel Beckett was living in the time between the two World Wars-also in the interwar period. Maybe he would say, that the people at this time were sitting at home….and my opinion is too, that they should stand up and go to any place, maybe they would find a supermarket or a pub. I think that Beckett wanted to tell us that we shouldn’t wait for things, we should come on and make something of our lives! For example: you have to make a travel or you do something with your friends, but don`t sit at home and do nothing!

ReplyDeleteThe play was written by Samuel Backett, he was a irish man and written this play after the World War 2. He get two Nobel Prize in literature 1969, 1989 he died.
Waiting for Godot is a absurd theater. There are two men, Vladimir and Estragon, who sitting at a stone next to a tree and wait for Godot. The play haven’t a meaning because Godot never appear. The play ends after two hours in the theater.
I think that Samuel Backett will be tell us that we no must wait. We go out love the life and do the best. These theater dosen’t have a good ending because the time after the Wolrd War 2 wasn’t happy, so why should the play then be happy? Only our own way is important so don’t live in an illusion about the life. So life your life and go your own way. Many people don’t know why the life should be poor because they have everything they need but they wat more. People in other lands have nothing to eat or a house but they have fun and live happy. So why we are not happy?! We want to have more and more things which we don’t need. I think we must stop to buying things which we don’t need only to excel others. So don’t buy all want you want but you don’t need. Enter is always better than to receive.
Do what you want but always know why you want it.

This play was written in 1949 by Samuel backett. He was born in 1906 in Dublin.
In Waiting for Godot are two main characters, named Estragon and Vladimir. They’re waiting for an unknown person. They meet some other characters in the play, but it isn‘t very exiting. They could go in a pub,to a cinema or explore the world but they only wait and do nothing others.
I think it is so typical for a theatre of the absurd, because they do nothing talk about anything. Samuel Backet alive on the most time of his life war and people who fight against for nothing. Wars every times haven’t happy ends so it could be reason why Waiting for Godot also haven’t a happy end. He also want to tell us with the play that the humans are so stupid, because always hope for God or something else. The humans should be take there destiny in there own hand, care for the future, or explore the world.

Waiting for Godot is a play written by Samuel Beckett who was born in 1906 in Dublin. In his life, Beckett often got to see the war, so that might be the reason why he wrote that absurd play. There are two main characters called Vladimir and Estragon. They meet at a tree next to a road. There, they are waiting for Godot all the time. After a while two other men enter. Pozzo and his slave Lucky. Lucky entertains them by dancing and thinking, after that they leave. Then a boy enters and tells them that Godot will surely come tomorrow. They talk about to leave, but then decide to stay. It seems that they are waiting endlessly, but after all, Vladimir and Estragon never see Godot.
So that explains why it’s so typical for the theatre of the Absurd. Because he lived in war most of his life, this is the reason why this play has no happy ending. I think Samuel Beckett wanted to tell us with this play that it’s important to not always wait for something. But maybe he wanted to tell us how life was after the war. In those days, the people didn’t have anything to eat, they had no home and no family (many people were killed) so they waited for better times. But they also reached nothing. When you want to reach something, you have to do something you like, not like Estragon and Vladimir. They could seize the day. They could go along the street to meet people or they could go into a pub and have some fun. There would be plenty things to do for them. But of course they just wait. If they ever want to meet Godot, they shouldn’t wait all the time, between they should have some free time and do what they like (work- life- balance).

Waiting for Godot is an English theatre, was written by Samuel Beckett in 1948. Samuel Beckett was born in 1908 in Dublin. His first published work was an essay on Joyce. Waiting for Godot was his first play. The original language of it was French.
The play is about Vladimir and Estragon. Estragon is always sitting on a stone. Vladimir stands next to him. They are waiting for Godot. But Godot does not come, so they are waiting and waiting. Beside that they do not know who Godot is. He could be everybody. While they are waiting, they meet Pozzo and his slave Lucky. At the end of act 1 a boy says to Vladimir and Estragon that Godot would not come today.
In the second act they are still waiting for Godot until they recognize that Godot does not come. They decide again to leave but they don´t move until the curtain falls - the end of the theatre.
Now some people will ask their selves: “Why is there no happy ending?” I think it is because this play was written after the Second World War and there was also no happy ending. The novelist wanted to say that war is a very bad thing and such a creepy thing should not happen ever after.
What did Beckett want to tell us? I think he wanted to tell us that we should not wait for something in 20 years. We should seize the day, because waiting is pointless. If you wait your whole life you did not live at any time of your live.

Waiting for Godot was written by Samuel Beckett. Samuel Beckett was born in 1908 in Dublin he died in 1989 in Paris .Beckett was an Irish avant-garde novelist. Beckett lived in Paris during the first and the Second World War that can be reason why the play is absurd, because he saw war his whole life.
There are two people the first is Vladimir he is sitting on a stone near a tree by the road, waits for Godot. Then there comes a old friend, his name is Estragon. After a while there are coming two people their names were Pozzo and Lucky. Pozzo talks a lidle bit with Vladimir during they talk lucky dance. After a few minutes Pozzo and Lucky go away. After a few hours a boy comes he says that Godot didn’t come today but he come tomorrow. In the second act they are also sit and they are wait. After a few hours waiting and nothing happens the play ends. So the paly have no happy end.
Why is there no happy end? Maybe there is no happy ending because the play was after the war and the people had lost everything. They had no jobs no money and no family .
What will Beckett tell us with the play? Maybe he want to tell us that the live is precious and short and we should make something about our live.
I think waiting for Godot is absurd.

Samuel Becket was born in Dublin in 1906. Samuel lived while the First and Second World War, so he did not know what peace, happiness and joyfulness actually is. So he had wrote “Waiting for Godot”, that the people would understand that war is not good. He made people aware that they should make better times and that they can not wait for better times.
The play is about the two men who are waiting for Godot. The two men are Vladimir and Estragon. It was at the end of the Second World War and everything was destroyed. Nothing was happy and nothing was good. Estragon and Vladimir were waiting on a roadside and they did nothing, but only Estragon wanted to pull up his shoe from his foot. They just waited for Godot and nothing else. But the absurd of this play is no one knows where or who Godot is .
Suddenly Pozzo and his slave Lucky was crossing the street.
Pozzo and Lucky came but Pozzo was blind and Lucky was dump and no one of the two remembered that they had met Estragon and Vladimir the day before. The boy, who has been on the road the day before, also did not remember that he had been there the day before. He toled Vladimir and Estragon again that Godot wouldn t come.
I think Beckett wanted to tell the people that you should live your life so that you love your life but you also have to work.

ReplyDeleteAbout the author:
Samuel Beckett was born in Dublin in 1906. In 1951 and 1953, Beckett wrote his most famous novels, the trilogy Molly, Malone Dies, and the Unnameable. Waiting for Godot, his first play, was written originally in French in 1948 (He translated the play into English himself). This play began Beckett’s association with the Theatre of the Absurd, which influenced later playwrights like Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard. The most famous of Beckett’s subsequent plays include Endgame and Krapp’s Last Tape. He also wrote several even more experimental plays like Breath, a thirty-second-play. Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1969. He died in 1989 in Paris.
About the play:
The play is about two men who just wait. The main characters in the play are Vladimir and Estragon. But the play is absolutely absurd because Vladimir calls Estragon Gogo and Estragon calls Vladimir Didi. Vladimir seems to be the more responsible and mature of the two main characters. Estragon seems weak and helpless, always looking for Vladimir’s protection. He also has a poor memory. Other characters in the play are Pozzo: he pass Vladimir and Estragon and provides a diversion, Lucky: he is Pozzo’s slave who carries his bags and stool, a Boy: he appears at the end of each act to inform Vladimir and Estragon that Godot will not be coming this night, and Godot: the man for whom Vladimir and Estragon wait unendingly. He never appears in the play.
About the meaning:
In my opinion Beckett wanted to say that we shouldn’t waste our time and do nothing. He wanted to tell us that we should have fun, meet other people and just live our life. Don’t sit and wait like Vladimir and Estragon but rather stand up and go. The play was written during the Second World War, what says much because after the Second World War many people were waiting for somebody (e.g. somebody of their family or friends).
Result:
Beckett wrote a play that was matching to the situation that the most people had in this time and so made millions with it although it is absurd.
